The Orange Tree Foundation (OTF), with the support of Standard Chartered Bank (SCB), has launched the Maharat Hunar Se Kamiyabi Tak Vocational Training Program, an initiative dedicated to empowering individuals through skills and creating pathways to financial independence.

Maharat, meaning “skills,” reflects OTF’s vision of enabling people to unlock their potential. The program is built on the belief that talent exists everywhere, but opportunity often does not. By partnering with registered and certified Vocational Training Institutes (VTIs) across Pakistan, Maharat bridges this gap by equipping individuals with practical training and the confidence to succeed in the workforce.

Building Pathways for Independence

In today’s world, education alone is often not enough to secure meaningful employment. Many young people graduate each year but lack access to training that connects them with real market opportunities. Maharat responds to this challenge by focusing on vocational skills that are in demand, enabling participants to transform their learning into sustainable livelihoods.

Through this initiative, OTF and SCB are investing in communities where opportunities remain limited. By supporting vocational training that directly links to employability, the program helps individuals break cycles of financial struggle and move toward independence. The goal is not only to provide training but also to open doors for long-term success.

A Shared Vision of Impact

What makes Maharat unique is its collaborative approach. Powered by OTF’s mission to nurture human potential and supported by SCB’s vision of community development, the program brings together resources, expertise, and networks to create large-scale impact. Skill development requires collective effort, and Maharat ensures that vocational training becomes a life-changing opportunity for individuals and their families.
The program also emphasizes inclusivity. By partnering with institutes that prioritize opportunities for women and persons with disabilities (PWDs), Maharat ensures that access to skills and opportunities remains equitable. Each participant takes away more than technical knowledge—they gain dignity, confidence, and the ability to contribute meaningfully to society.

Looking Ahead

With Maharat Hunar Se Kamiyabi Tak, OTF and SCB are setting a new standard for vocational training in Pakistan, one rooted in empowerment, resilience, and opportunity. By continuing to expand partnerships and reach more individuals, Maharat is helping people take confident steps toward independence and success.
