Maritime Training Institute and Orange Tree Foundation Partner to Fund Vocational Training For Maritime Students

In service of expanding access to quality skills training in Pakistan, the Orange Tree Foundation has partnered with the Maritime Training Institute to provide fully funded vocational training to financially disadvantaged students. The partnership operates under OTF’s Vocational Training Program, an initiative supported by Meezan bank, and will benefit students with an interest in the seafaring industry.

The partnership between the Maritime Training institute and OTF will provide inclusive scholarships to financially challenged maritime students– allowing them to acquire the necessary skills needed to enter the seafaring workforce. By combining Maritime Training Institute’s educational infrastructure with OTF’s proven expertise in providing holistic student support, the initiative will open up avenues for underserved students to explore their educational and professional horizons in the seafaring industry.

Under the shared initiative, the Maritime Training Institute will train 15 students under the GP-III course for a period of six months, starting from January 2026. The institute will provide all the necessary training materials, access to facilities, transport, mentorship and facilitating job placement, while the Orange Tree Foundation will fund the associated cost of said training. Together, the two organisations will work to ensure that financial obstacles do not impede the sea-faring ambition of high merit students.

As both organisations move forward, they will look to support under-privileged maritime students–ensuring that quality vocational education can allow them to become financially independent over time.
